It’s No Joke – top comedians at Emperors Palace in support of 46664

15 November 2011

Some of South Africa’s best comedians are sharpening their tongues and honing their routines for the 46664 It’s No Joke comedy show at Emperors Palace on Thursday, 1 December 2011. The event was organised in support of the 46664 campaign, and aims to raise funds for and create awareness about the initiative. 5FM has come on board as a key supporter of the initiative.

Expect side-splitting comedy from the likes of Riaad Moosa, Nik Rabinowitz, David Kau, Tumi Morake, Chris Forrest, Deep Fried Man, Joey Rasdien, Conrad Koch and John Vlismas (MC), as they deliver some of their finest material and social commentary.

This comic campaign was first announced in February 2010, and formed part of the celebrations surrounding the 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s release from prison.

As part of the build-up to this year’s show, 5FM DJs will join the comics for a day at Hugh’s Haven in Yeoville. Hugh’s Haven provides preschool, nursery school and aftercare facilities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. On 19 November the DJs and comics will paint the walls of the home as part of their 67 minutes for the Mandela Day initiative.

The comedians have also pledged to support various other charities, hoping to inspire all South Africans to follow their lead and get involved wherever possible in support of the global Mandela Day campaign.
