Watch the Mandela Day concert webcast. No, really watch the Mandela Day concert webcast. With a number of hi-tech gadgets and interactive features, watching the Mandela Day concert via the webcast gives you some of the best coverage of an iconic concert.
The interactive features allow you, the user, to choose your camera angle, watch the artists backstage, comment on the concert or tweet your questions to the artists while watching them give interviews in the interview room
– and much more.
Not only do you get to watch the world’s top musical talent perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, you can interact with users from around the world and watch the concert in the way you want to from the comfort of your computer.
“We are very excited about being able to provide this webcast,” says Jonathan Brownstein, one of the members of 46664’s webcast team. “It’s definitely something that’s never been done in the way that 46664 and Mandela Day are doing it. Doing live TV coverage of a concert really doesn’t work: it’s long and most of the time people aren’t interested in watching the musicians change over and so on. But we’ve decided not to do live TV, instead we’re doing this webcast which allows users to watch the concert in the way they want to.
“We went to the biggest portals worldwide – Tiscali in England, MSN in Italy and so on – to create a Mandela Day 'microstate' in the language of the countries in which those portals are based,” Brownstein adds.
Eric Giguére, another member of the 46664 webcast team, explains how the 46664 team have done a "homepage takeover" so that if you go to one of these portals you will see the Mandela Day or Nelson Mandela as the homepage.
The standard package allows you watch the concert, but if you upgrade to the premium package you’re able to enjoy all the interactive features
– so sit back and enjoy.
