Lancia, which announced in November 2009 that it would sponsor the Nelson Mandela Day Madrid events to be held in July 2010, hosted an auction of artwork by Italian photographer Maurizio Galimberti.
Galimberti is famous for his collage photos of celebrities including Colin Firth, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Christopher Lambert and Ethan Hawke, captured using Polaroid film.
The auction, held at the Cardi Black Box Gallery in Milan on 12 January, 2010 raised €39 000, all of which was donated to 46664.
The gala event was hosted by Italian television celebrity Elenoire Casalegno and the auction was run by Italian personality Alfonso Signorini. Thirty-six artworks were auctioned on the evening and 46664’s Jonathan Brownstein accepted the donation on behalf of the organisation.
VIP guests included leading Italian businessman Giovanni Rana, as co-sponsor of the auction, and football stars Andrea Pirlo and Gianluca Zambrotta.
