"It’s our responsibility to maintain a steady, powerful flow of information to the world about HIV AIDS in Africa " (Gulli Briem / Earth Affair)
Earth Affair was formed in 2004 after intensive work on the debut album "Chapter one" which was written & produced by Gulli Briem, a founder member of the teenage funkgroup Mezzoforte. From Shepherds Bush, Starfield Studios, came the first international release, the beautiful, tear-jerking soulful world of Earth Affair.
Recorded in London, Paris, Iceland and Norway in 2004 it features among others, A-HA Vocalist Morten Harket, who co-wrote and performed "Gildas Prayer", the first single of the album. The Earth Affair debut release represents a groove mixture of jazz, hip hop & ambient influences from outer space. Modern gypsy flavoured, French, Gregorian, Norwegian voices and melodies create something that is rather unusual but oddly familiar at the same time. Others who lent their talent on the album are: Flood (Producer and mixer: U2, Depeche mode, PJ Harvey), Clive Martin & Sodi (Producers of Les Negresses Vertes), Mathias Canavese (Les Negresses Vertes), Voces Thules (The Gregorian singers), E-Berg (Producer of Plastic Lions).
46664 Norway 17 May 2005: Earth Affair shared the live stage with Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Brian May, Robert Plant, Johnny Clegg and many great African artists with the great Mr. Mandela himself, honouring everyone with his presence. The 46664 atmosphere was overwhelming and had a very powerful impact on members of Earth Affair, who committed themselves to further work with the 46664 organisation when called for. It’s with great pleasure that we present an Earth Affair documentary about the 46664 event and a new album in 2008, featuring some great pop-world music to further support associate with and hold the Nelson Mandela torch for years to support the cause. We are proud and determined to be Mr. Mandela’s appointed ambassadors and to raise further awareness for HIV/AIDS IN AFRICA.
