The African Women’s Development Fund in Ghana

The African Women’s Development Fund (based in Ghana) is the first Africa-wide grant making organization set up to provide grants to African women’s organizations across the continent. The AWDF has funded over 400 women’s organizations in 41 African countries. Through its special HIV AIDS programme, 46664 monies support community organizations in Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, Swaziland, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Togo and Benin. The organizations cover a range of activities including orphan care, prevention activities, advocacy work and educational activities, creating sustainable livelihoods, counselling services, feeding schemes and providing school fees for children orphaned by AIDS.
